I was looking over my sled today and noticed a little oil coming from
one of my front shock. It was coming from the top clicker knob onto the
silver nut that bolts into the top of the shock.
the amount was barely messurable.

should i be worried?

10,000km 6300mile on them.

I'd get them rebuilt with that kind of milage, either Wheelsport in Orlens or Sportsland in Arnprior, Sportsland did my rear twice and I was very satisfied...

You said you worked for a TURF farm...which 1?

mountainview, just over the river.

i took my rear shock to sportland earlier this year.

i was hoping someone would tell me a dribble on the front shocks was
normal:)

off they come.

My wife worked for Fairlawn for 5yrs and over 15 for Manderley...

I got mine shimmed 5/8" meaning I shortened the travel and lowered my front end a little over 1.5" without affecting ride quality and big improvement in handling and also improved my HYFAX wear less on the rear and more on the front 1/2, its the same guy that built the suspension on the G-FORCE fastest YAM sled, he's in Coaticook QC. if your interested I can give you his coordenates...he did mine for $150.00, shimmed, change oil & seals and re-charged.

Here are 2 pics, before and after with stock springs...

Did you keep the stock springs on?

I still dont understand what was shimmed to lower the travel by 5/8"??? Stance looks good, the sleds are sensitive to ride height anyway that is a major drop!

Bad o ring..

Had mine fixed too..

The guy who rebuilt my shocks told me yamaha doesnt sell the seals.. so he had to cross reference them to something else.. Not sure if thats true or not..

The front "A" arm shocks have to be taken apart and the rebuilders have what they call SHIMS that they install on the inside part of shocks SHAFT to limit/shorten travel of piston assembly, an APEX has 16.5" c/c stock, shimmed now have 15 7/8" c/c and you back your spring preload to near zero and it'll lower your C.O.G.

STAR SUSPENSION made up this set-up for me last year, he's the one you worked on the G-FORCE fastest APEX...he's real good for setting up suspensions.

Just cam back from Star suspension today.. .redid my both Apex and Vector GTX front shocks, he puts in a plastic washer inside the shock to prevent it from expanding all the way to the top... this lowers the front bumper 1 1/8th inch ... wich in turn diminishes inside ski lift and transfers more weight on skis and less on rear of track, so turnig is much easier (supposed..)..
they also rebuilt my Ohlins rear shock (for 120$) wich was completly busted after 3000 miles.... changing the seal to a better one and revalving it to my specs...

anyway..

they seem to know pretty much how to tune Yamaha suspensions.. they only do Yamahas...

I don't know how well they speak english though..

Had the oil changed and recharge done to them. Dealer told me that they couldn't get parts for them anymore. You read that right. I'm pritty sure some of the specilty shock companies that have been mentioned on here will have parts for 07 gytr shocks. Give me a brake. Anyways they haven't leaked and i have almost 1000km on them this winter since i put them back on so i hope the seal was a little dry and the new oil and recharge will last till the spring and i will send them to somebody hew wants to work on them and actually fix the problem if it start to week again.

Happy New year.
