i have an 07 mtx. when my suspension is all the way up and i push it down as far as i can and let it go it only come back up about half way or less. is it supposed to do that? it does it on all of the settings, it goes up a little farther on the hardest setting but not by much. none of my other sleds do that, their only about an inch from the top when i let go of them.
thanks.
thanks.

I don't believe that is normal. My sled is in the shop right now so can't check it out. I stiffened up the springs, and mine doesn't do that. Though, It's possible the rear shock is tired and the stock springs suck arse anyway.

could be the way its adjusted - front and rear shocks work together - if you have the front shock very light the rear one will top out without the suspension topping out - you may have a weak shock - you may have worn bushings in your suspension.

it only has 1300 miles on it. my dealer said it was normal, but it just seems like alot of slop for something with that amount of miles.

have you kept it greased? that will make them act funny. also, I think there is a block/bracket between the shocks that was steel on the 07s and in 08 they updated it with billet aluminum. I think the short track guys know a lot about this problem and when it breaks I think it acts like what you are describing. Maybe post this in the regular phazer section and see what people say there.

definitely can't see anything bad. nothing obvious to me anyway. My next step would be to pull the whole skid out of the sled and check all the cross shafts to see if anything is bent or seized. And check any bushings that could be worn out. Also, these sleds are very "droopy" with the suspension. What you consider bad when compared your other sleds may be normal for the phazer. If i push my back bumper down on my 08 and let it back up, it stops about 4 or 5 inches from being all the way up. Been like that since new.

I think its just normal for the MTX. I have a new 09' sitting in the garage and if I bottom out the suspension by sitting on the grab bar it only comes back a little over halfway. I kind of expected this though since the MTX has the weakest rear springs of all the phazers so they "conform" well to soft snow for traction.
So far from reading the forums I've found that these are the rear torsion spring specs.
MTX = 1700nm
Phazer, GT = 2100nm
FX, RTX = 2500nm
Race kit = ???? (stiffer than the 2500nm)
People that trail ride them see to bottom them out pretty easy and usually switch to the 2100 or 2500 springs.

One answer for the phazer suspension ~ TIMBERSLED
. I changed my sons out this year on his 07 and what a
difference. It changed everything and dumped 20 plus lbs. Sad thing is the front shox are just as sorry as the rear skid.
PM me and I can hook you up with a dealer
