Well as most of you know I got rid of the Crossfire in the spring and got a deal on a 09 Nytro XTX.
Over the summer I have been tossing around ideas of what I want to do to it to make it "mine". I have compiled a list of things that I am going to try and get done before this season, however as I go the list seems to be changing and shrinking/ growing!
So back in April I picked up a Black and White 09 Yamaha Nytro
When the 2010's were released I decided I REALLY liked the look of the all black XTX, so I have decided to use that as a base. So I have ordered a Black hood and tank top to replace the white. I am still undecided on what to do with the seat, since it will still fit the look, but I just don't know if I want the grey in it. I will have to wait for final decision on that.
The name of my project comes from a graphics kit of Arctic FX that I really really like, and it seemed to be a fitting theme for my sled.
So a few weeks ago, I went and pickeed it up... Now the real work can start, I am hoping to finish my list before snow, but we will see how far I get.
So my current list is as follows:
Black Yamaha 2010 panels
Arctic FX Graphics (Northern Ascent)
Simmons Flex-Ski (undecided)
White Skid Plate
Wet Sanded & Polished Tunnel
Black/ Orange Powermadd Handgaurds (or something other than the white)
AutoMeter Water Temp & Oil Pressure Gauges
ROX 2" Riser
WRP Running Boards with orange insert (Thinkin this may happen next year with their seat now)
HID Headlights (4300K)

Here is a little update on the progress....
Graphics are installed
HID's are installed
ROX Riser is installed
Gauge Pods and Gauges are mounted, but have to be wired yet along with mounting the senders.
This week I plan too
1) Mount all the senders for the gauges
2) Wet Sand & Polish the tunnel
3) Mount my White Skinz Float Plate
Here are a few pics from last night stripping the sled down to get ready for the wet sand and sender installs.

Nice sled, man!!
You could easily keep the white hand guards, they fit with your graphics kit. If you change, the black stock Nytro hand guard look way better then the PowerMadd ones!

I like the stock ones more and they are cheap too as an added bonus.
Great looking sled. I agree on the black treatment, it looks great.

I had no luck wet sanding mine the side I didnt doo looked better then the side I did. I went 800, then 1000, then 1500, then 2000 took forever and it didn't look much better. Hopefully your more skilled then I am. I gave up. I like my painted tunnel now LOL.
Good luck sled looks awesome.

Thanks kinger...
We did a little test patch under the tank. One area with nothing, one with just 2000 and one with 1000 then 2000 and polished them all. On my sled, both the wet sanded areas looked better than the none polished. But the just 2000 was tough to tell between the 1000 and 2000..... in the end we decided to do both 1000 and 2000, since we figured there was more crap on the tunnel in the exposed area rather than the under tank area.
Oh BTW, Yamaha uses ALOT of rivets, lol... and they are a royal PITA while wetsanding!

Well another night of working on the sled, another few things done.
One side of the sled totally done with 2000 grit, and the first initial polish of that side, I figure I'll polish it 2 more times and then seal it. I was gonna do the other side, but I got bored and wanted a change of scenery. So I figured I would wire in the gauges and install the senders.
Working on the 2000 grit wet sand..
Starting to polish, comin out pretty good
Bored... Time for gauges!
More to come...

I'm hoping to find a way to carry that blue over to the stock display also.... Have to find a schematic to see how it is lit!! Then maybe if it is LED or something I can swap them for blue.... SWEEET!!
Keep us posted on that, I' love to have a blue lit display.

Pics from Lastnight..... Kev got the polishing bug and started polishing everything aluminum that he could find. So now I have a polish steering post, shocks, a-arms, and apparently next week.... RAILS!
I also have a little suprise up my sleeve that I just figured out yesturday.... Stay tuned for that!
Hints are in the pictures...
There are still a few small things to wrap up... Pin striping on the handgaurds, mount the skid plate, figure out a oil pressure sender option, etc etc
