This weekend I was changing the belt this weekend and noticed a hole in the bulk head right under the jack shaft. At some point I must have gotten either a big chunk of ice or more likely a rock between the track and the bulk head and broken a piece out (looks like the exit hole in an aluminum can after being shot) the hole is about the size of an orange. Looking at the Yamaha micro fiche I cant find a part number for just the bulk head. It looks like you have to order the whole assembly for about $1,000. Does any body have experiance with this/advice?

Thanks

I plan on keeping the sled for some time so I was going to have the insurance pay for the repair. I was wondering if the whole unit had to be replaced or just the bulk head. I can't find a part number for just the bulk head. The entire assembly through South Seattle Sports Plaza is $980, that looks like the cooler, two front pieces, rivets, bearings the whole 9 yards. I thought if I could just get the bulkhead and have it done at Yamaha for under $350 I would just pay for it and not file a claim (my deductible is $250) and keep my rates down....

The one I had to order for a friend it was the hole assembly, But we found just the bulk head on TY. $980 for the parts and ? and the work to put it in. Just tell the insurance you hit a deer. lol

A couple of pics...not the best but it is a pretty tight spot.

Cant really tell from the pic, but could thatjust a hole in the cover that covers the exhaust donuts?

Mountain man, how did you make out ? Were you able to get the right parts with out buying the whole engine cradle.Did you check the 2009-10 parts?

Weld it. Serious.

It isn't worth it to take the whole thing apart to fix something stupid like that. Remove the brain box (so it doesn't get cooked by electric weld, though I doubt it would it doesn't hurt to be careful) and the secondary clutch, it *looks* like nothing else will need to come off, *maybe* the exhaust cover. Hammer it back into shape, get a reasonably competent aluminum welder to tig or mig it, it'll be fine and won't even look bad once its done. Should cost you around $20.
