That's crazy....I had my spindles powder coated this season and was surprised to see they were really beat up lookin in that area of the spindle...kinda scary.

Did this happen this year? On snow? Where?

broke mine too, only farther up.hit a rock as big as a volkswagon and launched me and the sled up in the air on top of a log.

ya i was in snow 2 years ago the thing is the repaced my brothers on his cause they were worn out after 1800 mi but they told me i hit some thing but i could see the casting marks were it broke and it was half hollow

I flipped mine end over end when the track went in a hole and launched me over the handle bars..cleared the front end but landed on the tunnel...that was $3400 with labor..I can't imagine what you spent!!

Is there a stronger spindle, or is this something we have to fear is going to eventually happen on rough trail terrain?
:o|

I not saying this is what happened but is entirely possible that the bi-metal bushings wore out and the bolt and collar started ovaling the hole, making it weaker. And the left spindle looks bent, like from a side impact, it's hard to tell in the pic, it's too small. That may have happened while it was doing cart wheels though.... Just offering up some things guys should be looking for.

I would like to say this will stick in my head while riding..but once them trees start flying by, my mind will be set on staying out of those :)
