It's an issue for me. 1250 kms all in good snow conditions and mine were toast. Figure an average season to be 4000km, and you're changing them 3 times a season.
Why would you wanna switch anyway? I was told by the dealer I bought my sled from that there's a reason Yamaha designed their own belts. He also says if the clutches get damaged while using a non-OEM belt, they probably won't be covered under warranty.
Yes and no. I do about 25% of my riding on smooth trails. I wouldn't say I'm impressed by the sit-down functionality but it can be done. Keep in mind it's built for stand-up riding in rough or no-trail conditions.
Wind protection? What wind protection? You'd have to get the high windshield with side deflectors or else you're out in the cold.
I'm not sure about the 2009s, but the 2008s WILL manhandle you when left stock. In my opinion it takes a fair bit of strength just to hang on, especially WOT on...
I just hit 1250 kms. My first set of slides and every bushing and ball on the front end are toast. And my reverse beeper sounds like it's sick. But other than that, nothing is broke or bent. ;)!
I'm just glad I'm not around to ride it. Only been home for 3 weeks this winter. I've NEVER owned...
