Jumped ship from Polaris after 25 years of buying new sleds 1984-2009 20 total. After 60 days of riding I have the following Maintanence to report,

Jan 1 2010 Yamaha Nytro 09 sees first snow 0 miles
Jan 10 oil change 500 miles
Jan 18 Hyfax change 1800 miles
Jan 18 Slydog trail ski /6" shaper bars 1800 miles
Jan 29 6" shaper bars broke rod too many rocks 2800 miles
Feb 11 oil change 3240 miles
Feb 16 track failed replaced with skidoo track only one available 4500 miles
Feb 17 replaced brocken bolt in chain case 4500 miles
Feb 17 replace brake pads one fell off 4500 miles
Feb 17 replace front small idler wheel, bearing failed 4500 miles
Feb 28 drive belt failed 6125 miles

Sled is ready for another oil change and new hyfax one more time. But no injection oil and a lot less gas than previous sleds. If we could only get more snow we may get a few more weeks of riding.

Good sledding

That is alot of miles in such short time! But it is fun soo hell yea!

NO other Hyfax changes between 1800 and 6200? Your second set did well, if this is to be true? I'm assuming the ski-doo track was also fully clipped?

So how about a ride report! How about a comparison to your Polaris? It seems like you are happy with your nytro otherwise you wouldn't have put 6000 miles on it!
Also, could you fill in your location on your profile. :Rules: site rules. Thanks!

I am happy with the Nytro so far. The hyfax do wear more than the polaris but if I run them to the wear indicator they seem to quit wearing, apparently running more of the weight on the wheels. I am hoping to get a longer life out of the four stroke motor than the Polaris motor although I had good luck with several two strokers 2006 Fusion 600 went 15,000 miles and threw an exhaust valve thru motor- 2003 600 went 13,000 miles without being cracked open but 2007 had upper end rebuilt at 6000 miles and motor replaced at 10,000 miles. My plans are to run this sled for three years and see if the Yammy motor is as good as they claim. Most of the miles are put on in Northern MN, Ontario, and Manitoba.

WOW I thought I was doing good @ 4000mi. this year.You kicked my a$$.
I updated the skid at the begenning of the year with larger wheels, and put on 6.9 pilots, with shaper bars, and the only thing that is wore out is the a arm bushings and joints, and maybe the exhaust doughnuts(clamps are rattling). Original belt, sliders, and straps.
2 oil changes and gas is all i've spent so far. Not bad I guess?
If you spend some time on these forums, you would think the Nytro's are garbage, but the people I know that own these are having good luck with them.
