2016 Sr Viper XTX
Are the ECU set up different for each model sled?
I was checking and in 2014, 2015, 2016 found 3 different part # for ECU different models sleds.
I thought the ecu were all the same.
Could this be the reasion why some sleds had problems and some didn't
 
I thought they were the same in all the Viper for the same year. But as you can see below there different

Holy cow Allan! Never knew that. Has to be different tunes but why? Thought thats what sensors are for? This is going in FAQ. Hey need a parts job?

I was wounder if this is why some sleds had start problems and more didn't?
 
Evo should be able to look and see the differences but they have stated "Its like looking for a needle in a Haystack" I would imagine the operating code for that ECU is huge.
 
I wonder if all of them have a different EPA number? That would cost a fortune for Yamaha to pay for that approval. If the EPA number is different the tune is for sure different.

What do EPA stand for?
 
They are going to have different part#/calibrations for the different track lengths/driver size so that the speedometer/odometer read correctly.
Different size/pitch drivers will cause the speedometer to reading to change, just like changing tire sizes on your truck/car.

That makes sense! Man we have alot of really smart people around here. That would also not effect the EPA number I would assume?
 
Allan, I commend you on all of this :)

I think we finally found why some are having issues and some are not. There have to be differences because of the part numbers. This is just crazy facts from Yamaha. Why so many? And which one went into my ECU after my re-flash?

I'm so glad I got the ECU original 2014 so EVO could make a performance flash from it.

I was thinking the same thing. I know there would be some different because of drive sprocket to get the speed right. but a lot of these sleds have the same sprocket and gears. So to me it don't make any since why so many different ECU
