My custom (home brew) muffler uncorked some power, but melted the cone in the exhaust cap. Seems to be a problem with other aftermarket exhausts, too. But I think I’ve got a solution that will work. Made this stainless steel piece to fit after trimming the melted plastic from the cover. Adhered in place with high temp (650degrees) permatex for now. I’ll know after the weekend how it holds up.

Mounted up and ready for testing. I’m not optimistic about the RTV, though. Thinking about welding on a couple tabs to rivet through the plastic.

So far the tip fix is working with no signs of additional melting.
