Ok folks haven’t posted in a long while, but we had crappy conditions last year and now this year we’re making up for it. Buddies 15 viper went down with chain case issues last week, this sled has been in our group since new, well maintained serviced regularly! Chaincase oil drained and refreshed every season, following cats recommended technique of loosening the torx bolts and cracking the case to let oil out and then close up and pour in new oil! What we’ve found however and will become part of our seasonal maintenance is that u MUST completely remove the cover and clean off the small magnets on the end of the driveshaft, they become completely encrusted with the metal filings that occur naturally in this environment and then create an awesome grinding compound on the end of the shaft! Boring right through the outer chaincase cover and thus puking out all oil and in some severe cases destroying the speedo pickup that siliconed on the outside of the case! So in closing, once a season open case , locate bottom gear with magnets for speedo pickup and spray clean with brake clean or carb and choke cleaner and wipe clear! I’ve attached pics of my sled aswell with the slight wear that I had incurred in 6200miles, I had change my case oil 3times, but never completely took apart and will from now on! Cheers boys, hope I’ve opened some eyes and saved some trouble for ya!First 3 pics are from viper 7300miles next 3 are from my 17 zr9000rr

Better replace top gear bushing and weld screws on tensioner roller also while you have it apart.
