Best ditch-banging rear and best trail riding rear!

2009 Sled Tech Preview - Best Ditch Rear Suspension: Yamaha FX Nytro RTX SE
This one is tough for me to call as I didn’t get much chance to ride the bigger bumps. Our team, however, did and we had a season to demo the 2008 Nytro. Still I did get a chance to ride the new RTX alongside the other big bump sleds like the MX ZX and Polaris Dragon SP. The Dragon SP held its own and was very close in the rear and the MX ZX almost felt too rough. The Nytro felt it could take the big bumps well but also allowed me to adjust the SOQI rear shock to go from trail friendly soft to near-race hard, much like the front.

2009 Sled Tech Preview - Best Trail Rear Suspension: Yamaha Ohlins Equipped Mono Shock
Looking for all-day comfort and don’t do a lot of jumping? You’ll get the smoothest ride on the trails from the Yamaha Mono Shock rear suspension. What makes it even better is the Ohlins electronic shock that you can adjust on the fly from the handlebars. In our extensive testing, no other stock suspension offers a smoother ride over stutter bumps. There are other suspensions that will react quicker to throttle response or that will handle the harsher bumps better, but if you like smooth, you’ll like Yamaha’s Ohlins packed Mono Shock rear skid.
