SR Viper, clutching, belts, gearing information

Allen, your results show exactly what I found out when testing.

my data point: re-geared to 21/41 with stock clutches. ate 2 8jp in ~100mi racing. never seen such clutch burning before. rpm right at 8800, no over-rev. conditions were warn and mash potato snow. guess she needs some fine tuning.

Not enough clutch side pressure on the primary in stock form. Quick fix is 8DN belt correct fix is clutch spring and weight change.

does reworking the primary/secondary mean proper clutching or machining?

Well, essentially it will take both to make it work 100% properly. We are machining the primary and the secondary both and I will offer to install our clutch kit if you so choose. If you want to use the stock or your own clutching I will help point you in the correct direction as well, while still offering the machining service.

Well if my XTX doesn't sell before the 15th of April, it will for sure be getting a tune up in SD this summer.

Stiffer spring and heavier weights. Oddly enough the empty dnf are the same weight and the the loaded stockers.

I added information to our website today.

http://www.ulmerracing.com/srviper.htm

Or go directly to http://www.ulmerracing.com and click -----> Clutching ----> SR Viper and it will take you to the information as well.

I'm anxious to see what happens when the gearing is dropped back a bit on the N/A Vipers, the clutches machined, and the straight profile weights used like Stingray and NOS have been testing...

My vision is owning a sled that is smooth and docile starting out and when throttle is eased, but when whacked will pull like a freight train out to 100mph and top out maybe just a hair over that.

Come take mine for a ride if you want lol mine is very smooth just putting around..not jumpy at all and you can just cruise at 15-20 mph and it rolls freely and doesn't jerk you around..WOT..it revs right up very fast and loads the engine hard so it has a lot of grunt..after getting more miles on my setup Ive noticed it almost revs up too quickly. If I load mine a little more on the initial launch I think it will help the sled all around because going straight to 8900 rpm at slows speeds is almost too much power and the sled will spin out on a lot of surfaces. Loading it a little more on a launch will still be able to use the torque of the engine but not have too much power to break loose the traction
