Does anyone know/remember the compression #s for the SRV 540 1986? I know this is 4 stroke forum, but my buddy has an old 540 that we are working on.
Thanks,
Thanks,

Check out these forums http://srv540.proboards80.com/index.cgi? lot of guys that still keep the old srv's going.. I still have one. Any way you have to register to see the forum. But most of the posts over there say 110 - 120 is very good, getting down around 100 is about time for a rebuild.

They will run at 90+ but get real hard to start when down close to or under 100. 120 to 125 is all you will get on a fresh top end and 115+ is good to go. I agree with Trevor that yours is getting a little tired at 104. A light hone and new set of rings could be all that is needed. They are a very tough engine and as long as the cylinder isn't to worn or grooved up you can get by without an overbore.
