Well I got my sled out for the 1st time this year on the TY ride in Hougton, MI.
First I would like to say thanks to all the people we rode with. As always we had a great time. It was fun to jump on other people sleds, talk about thier setups and see and feel what it is like on real world conditions.
This summer I installed Hygear triple rate front springs, dual rate center spring, and the torsion spring spacers. I did not send in my shocks for revalve, rebuild. So this in not the complete packages that they sell.
I am running SLP powder pro skis with 6" shaper bars, a 1.375" cobra track. Everthing else is stock.
Settings:
Front, compression 3, rebound 2, 2.5" of spring preload.
Center, minimal preload, just enought to hold the springs in place
Rear, 3 compression
Setup:
This new setup lowers the front end of the sled setting the ride height much lower than you can achieve with the stock setup. The new springs come with plastic spacers to be used on the top (lightest) spring. I used all but the thinnest pair of rings. This gave me about 2" of set in on the front end.
Impressions:
We rode in all types of conditions, early morning with frozen rail grade, mide day soft and trashed out the small to medium bumps, late day with large bumps, and freshly groomed trails. THIS SLED IS COMPLETELY TRANFORMED!!!!! Not once did the inside ski lift. I had complete confidence in the sled. The sled rails. Sterring effort has been an issue ever since I swapped out skis, but the new setup has reduced that effort by about 30%. The sled handles the bumps better and an all around much better machine.
We rode with several other TY members coming off of an attack, phazer, 06 nytro, and a SKi Doo rev. All agreed that the setup was awesome and are now very very instersted in getting a nytro now that they have seen what may be the answer to the handling issues on the Nytro.
It is going to be a great season now that I have found my perfect setup.

Cool to hear.
I just installed this week my tripple rate springs on the front shocks. I plan on installing the suspension front shock spring next year when I pull my suspension for its yearly maintenance.
Can't wait to try my set up. Also I just installed some ski doo 6.9 pilot ski's.
Next trip is Dec 27th.

Glad to hear your positivie results with the triple rate springs. I have installed mine this past weekend and have not been able to get out yet. My biggest soncern with this sled has been eliminating the inside ski lift and for the most part these springs seem to make a huge difference.

I can't wait to try mine. I used just a hair over 3/8" preload on both the front tripple rates and the center shock. I did not use any spacers in the top tender springs and the front end sits real low (A arms are just above parallel w/o me on it). I may have to toss some back in, but I'll see on the trail

If you let the front set in (sag / lower) to much you are sacrificing shock travel. The lower the sled the better it will (less ski lift) handle, but you will have much less travel for bumps. Too high and the bump capabllity is great but is tippy in the corners.
You have two choices with the triple rate setup.
1. Add the spacers to set ride hieght. With the front off the ground versus the sled (no rider) on the ground 2" of set in is just about right. With the spacers you keep more preload off of the the two larger springs and help with ski pressure and sterring effort. Also with the spacers it will allow the top spring to work when the sled is unsprung (in the air)
or
2. You can keep turning down the adjusting nut to raise the sled. You will completely colapse the top spring before the sled starts to lift, making it completely useless. But it will work.
I am no expert but I spent about a half hour on the phone with Hygear after I installed mine because I was concerned about the very low front end. Now I have a pretty good understanding of this setup. As with all sled mods, just becaus it works for me, dose'nt mean it will work for you.

Right now from the ground to the top of the front bumper is 17" +/- 1/16"

With the tripple rate springs set from Hygear specs, 5mm pre-load, all spacers in. I measure ~18" from the ground to the top of the bumper.

I never thought to do a stock measurement. Any one do a before with xx preload on stock springs?
Front tip of the hood stock was 19 1/4" and after the front spring swap out it now is 17 1/8". Havent fiquired the best way to pull the rear center shock out yet to see if it changes the front if any.
