My upper ball joints are loose and sloppy feeling. Is there any other aftermarket upper ball joint kit offered for the Nytro?? Or just stick with getting new stock ones?
Thanks

They are called heim joints or rod ends you can order wat you need from fasten all or any retmay or bolt company. take one into them so they get the size correct and remember 1 is left thread and 1 is right thread.

How do those hold up compared to factory ones? I know the factory ones aren't all that great, but I wouldn't want to use something that is even worse.
First of all factory ones are not factory. They buy them from a supplier like we do and then mark them up. I have replaced several on RX's and apexes after myself and or friends visited the big woods to disturb the squirels. When I built race cars we got all ours from Fasten-all and never had a failure that wes not caused buy a brush with the wall or another car at 180 mph.
There is a number on the rim of the housing that is a catalog part number from where they buy them from. And just like anything else there are chinese versions and then high quality ask your local fastener company. The same goes for every bearing on your sled, gear box, drive and jackshaft, skid wheels............

I know Yamaha probably buys the ball joints, but I don't want to buy ball joints made in china, which are probably worse quality than the stock ones that could be made in Taiwan. What is the cost difference between Yamaha ones and fastenal ones?
I cannot answer that. But I think when I did the last Apex 4 yrs ago Yamaha wanted $32.00 for the pair (small) ones on the steering linkage and the ones I got were less than $12. If you can read the numer on the rim you can call them or search internet. I searched heim joints and got over 10000 listings.
I just looked on nutty bolts and the average for that approximate size is $6.93 each

You must be talking about the tie rod ends. The original post by YamahaFreak is for the upper ball joint on the spindle. If it remember right those are $130+ for the pair. That makes sense why you said RH thread and LH thread. The ball joints are both RH thread.
I am also in need of upper ball joints, and what like to find something better, or cheaper if they are only going to last as long as the Yamaha ones.

Those are NOT BALL JOINTS They are rod ends. Yamah calls them ball joints but that is thier choice.
They are parts # 38 & 42 on the ski segment one is left hand and one is right hand thread
The lower is not a rod end that is a ball joint that seats in the lower A arm

the ones listed by Yama Freak are the same thing except the bolt is integral vs the seperate bolt, nut and washer that was OEM so there its $32.00 for the pair which if you buy the set without the integral bolt through a nut company they will be under $10 each
Yamafreak, if you go with any of these options, please post up how they fit. I also saw the zbros joints, they look beefy and we know they are already used in this exact application on their a arms. I wonder if the studs on those joints are the same size as the stock nytro? If so, at $32 a pair, seems like a bargain and a safe bet.
$56 per joint from yamaha is a ripoff considering how short a life they seem to have. Yamaha riders have come up with solutions for all of Yamaha's other shortcomings, seems like we shoudl be able to come up with a better or at least equal but cheaper solution for both the upper and lower balljoints.

Lithium grease prolonged the life of my ball joints, imho

I thought of using regular Heims But it would require you to grind the tabs off the a-arm that keeps the joint from rotating in arm. It also would require a Jam nut along with the regular nut. The jam nut is going to be awful close to hitting spindle. I got over 11,000mi out of my upper stock Heims before I thought they were sloppy enough to be scrap. I bought stock again to avoid hassels. Lower balljoints I have not gotten more than 3000 mi till badly sloppy. Aftermarket bronze ones were worse. I hope latest design Yamaha ones hold up better since lowers are critical for safety. Just buy OEM.
