Just wondering if anyone had seen weights on the 08 Vector & LTXs?
We were talking about how much lighter the 08 Vectors have to be, to the 08 Apexs.

According to Yamaha's brochure they show 08 vector LTX at 577 lbs dry the exact same weight as the Apex LTX. Last years Rage at 564 lbs

Yamaha claims no weight difference between the Vector models and Apex models, but from riding both I can tell you the Vector feels lighter when riding it! That is the real sleeper sled of 2008!

I agree with srxspec. The yamaha rep told me the rage weighs the same as the vector ltx there was no weight loss.
no weight loss is fine... because the new vector and ltx are hands down far superior machines.... better balance, feel, etc.....

The monoshock must add weight since my non ER '05 Vector is 542 lbs.
rockrider did you weigh your sled or are you going by yamah's claims.some of there claims aren't accurate.

Thats why I asked. We have seen that Yamaha printed the same weight as the Apex. With 1 less cylinder & no gear reduction, the sled has to be lighter or we have a big numbers game going on!

Thought I read that the 3-holer is 3 lbs. lighter on each of it's models. WOW
Weights seem to be the same for GT and non GT models. But the Apex has the electonic shocks whereas the Vectors are standard, right.

There was more Magnesiun used on the Apex motor and some titaniun exhaust part's on the Apex as well. It would be my guess that all the Vector motor and exhaust part's are the same and that is why the weight's are the same. (more light weight part's on the Apex) kviper

I am thinking the reason the Vector feel's lighter is the Motor is slightly lighter, There for less weight on the front but the weight is gained back in the exhaust. I think there also was a differance in the chain case and brake rotor. kviper

Another reason for the lighter feel is because the motor actually sits lower (you can see this in the way the new Vector side panel is sculpted compared to the Apex). The posts above that mentioned the use of magnesium and titanium parts on the Apex motor & exhaust where the Vector doesn't use any of those light weight parts.

Motor sitting low helps alot more than some people would think! Thats for sure!

when you pick the front up it seems considerably lighter than the 07's and there onlky seems to be like a 25-30lbd difference between the nytro and apex when I picked up the front and rears of them.

No, I didn't weigh mine, that figure came right out of the owner's manual.
I thought I read somewhere that the Vector motor was 20 lbs lighter than the Apex. Or maybe that was compared to the RX-1 motor?
