Hey guys, I'm sorry, i'm sure its been discussed time and time again. But I found a good deal on a 2" camoplast, not sure of the model of track, but the pitch is correct. In your guys' opinion, am i better off cutting the track down to a 1.75", as compared to grinding on the heat-exchanger protectors? Is there any other major problems with going to a 2" track? Thanks alot!

even if you cut it down to a 1.75 you will have to grind the protectors off.

Ok cool, sorry, just making sure we are on the same page, so I will need to remove the tunnel protectors, and the heat-X protector?radianguy said:even if you cut it down to a 1.75 you will have to grind the protectors off.

Yes all the protectors must come off. A 2" track will require different drivers. There is minimal clearance to the heat exchanger even with a 1.75" track.

Soo to go to a 2" I am looking at removing all protectors, changing the drivers to a smaller driver for clearance, and possibly changing the gearing because of the driver change? Only reason I am considering 2" is because of a good deal i found. Now, if I waited for a 1.75" I would be able to get away with just removing all of the protectors, and leaving the stock drivers alone? Saw a few vids on youtube of guys trimming a track down, looks pretty slick, might be my best option, as far as $$ goes.
There is a member on here that has a 2" track and the stock drivers. He said it's tight but clears

Also if you trim the 2" to 1.75" the lugs will be stiffer than a 1.75". If you aren't worried about trimming it down I say go for it!

Right on guys, thanks alot! I'm intrigued about the member with the 2" and stock drivers still. I'd love to stay full 2", but might end up trimming just to be sure.

I bought my 1.75 Backcountry for $687 from Tracks Canada. The old ripsaw was sold for $400 on kijiji. So my track change only cost $287 for the Backcountry which is an unreal track.

Thats a pretty sweet deal Sask. I'm looking at $400 for a slightly used Camoplast Challenger. If i can sell my ripsaw for anywhere close to that i'll be laughing!! Anybody have any experience on the particulars to what drivers i would need?
I put on a new 2" challenger. I also went with Avid drivers. The only mod was to cut out the tunnel protecters. The Avid's are the same size as stock.
I have some pics in a build thread

2" will fit, i just put an older challenger on mine. Just whack them protectors off. I geared mine down to a 18 T top gear. I just beat an 08 summit 800 146X2.25 when we ran em up to around 70..

I had a 2" challenger on and it clears everything just fine if you get the notched challenger. Its only available as a 121 or 136, but you could notch any 2" to fit.
Remove the tunnel protectors, or just cut the track.

I've read about changing the drivers to a 9-tooth Ski-doo driver, but haven't found any accurate part numbers, the original numbers from what i read are 504152503. But, then i also read that that part is not stocked any more, for $49.00 that'd be a nice way to go. Anybody have any experience with this lately? i want to stay with the 9-tooth but with extroverts. Lol, just suck it up and order Avids?
