The car wash owner had to be scratching his head on this one....no worries about high pressure, it was more "spot free rinse" to get the shop dust off and give the underside a good coating of hot wax.
The looks I got were quite comical....lol
I picked my Viper up from the shop today and noticed the "track adjustment bolt" (long gold looking bolt that runs parallel to the track) was still loose. I can't turn it with my fingers to loosen or tighten but the bolt is wiggly.
I asked the kid who helped me load the sled and he did not...
I had the exact same problem and this is my issue as well...could be a potential trip ruining situation for those who don't read the internet....like you, I was able to seek info and got going again.
My buddy has an Apex XTX and I have a Viper LTX......during the last trip we kept switching because his hands were getting cold and the Viper warmers are awesome. Anyhow, I could not wait to get back on my Viper every time we switched as I do not care for the seating position and big hood...
I ended up writing a nice good/bad paragraph on the last line where is asks "what was your least favorite part of the purchase"....I can only assume it will fall on deaf ears, but at least I felt better.:)
So I purchased a new 2015 sled a few weeks ago and since then have received a letter from the dealership, a letter from Yamaha, a call from "Yamaha", and a survey from Yamaha. I have hesitated filling out the survey because there have been some "issues" with my sled (in the shop) that really...
Thank you sir...yes, much like other things on my sled they were not set right...plate contacts them exactly on the angle to cause them to break where they did.
Not sure what this block is called back towards the end of the track....one side is broken almost all the way through and the other side has stress cracks.....2015 LTX DX 600mi
What is it called? Why did it break? And will it hurt to keep running it?
It railed on fresh groomed trails, zero darting. The only darting I experienced was at low speed on heavily used trails with many iced up ski tracks, seemed like it was searching for a line (not bad or unsafe but I could feel it in the steering).....at 40-60mph it went away.
Cornering was...
I had Woody's 6" in and out installed when new....after 600 mi and a bit of that riding the side of the road lost and looking for the trail....got home and they still look new. Very happy I listened to everyone and changed the stocks right from the start.
Had to laugh...packed up to leave today and turned the key on my Viper just to see the total miles for the trip, as Murphy's Law would have it....fuel pump kicked right on, go figure...coldest morning of all week.
Oh well...one gremlin to sort out on a new sled, I can live with that....600+...
I still love the sled but this morning it took 3 warm towel tricks to get it going.....I shut it off after it warmed up and for peace of mind tried starting it again and it tried to start and then kicked back hard and would not idle.
I got pissed and walked away kicking ice chunks in the hotel...
It was stupid cold (- 16) and snowing HARD last night...we ran power lines hard before I put it away so I'm sure everything was frozen solid....we didn't even attempt to ride until noon today because of the temperature....99% of the time I will not ride in temps like this but vacation was...
Not sure...had 350 happy and trouble free miles on my new Viper and went out to the enclosed trailer this morning and fuel pump was not kicking on (no start). After calling 2 different dealers, all of which had no clue to try and help (one was 5mi away but was too busy to look at it)....I was...
Warm up wash towel from hotel under hot water and lay ontop of fuse relay box on clutch side....thought our trip was over (no power, no way to get heat, etc)....worked like a charm...fine the rest of the day. Figured it might save others some headache!!
