Another stupid question. You ever tried to change the hifax and notice the windows are smaller than the hifax? Do I literally have to loosen the entire backend to get the hifax back in?
The other issue I had problems with is unclipping the headlight pod. The male/female connection seen really tight to break loose. I did see the clip inside and pushed down but they didn't come loose.
Thank you so much. I had no idea they hide the plugs under the bolts like that in these sleds. I changed the oil last year and I wondered where the plugs where located. My sled is 10 years old with 6k miles. I know it is debatable to change them but after 10 years it might be worth it since...
Thanks for the instructions on changing your spark plugs. I'm new to this so I'm just going to ask that under those 4 bolts with the blue dots are spark plugs under the headlamp pod? So you just unbolt the top and then use the spark plug removal tool?
Hi,
I wondered the same thing. I took mine to the Yamaha dealer and he showed me the "new and improved" donuts that Yamaha came out with this past year. They are silver/metal and appear more rugged then. The old ones are in the pictures. As you can see they looked like a beat up SOS pad. The...
I should have known. We were so excited just to get it lined up without tearing up the bushing. I have the entire skid installed. I'm hoping I can use a rachet and take enough pressure off those arms to wiggle it out and the washer on the right side.
I have a similar question on a track change on the Yamaha apex GT. Does the washer go on the bolt on the outline like the picture or by the nut under the sled connecting the arms to the sled? I looked at the picture on the service manual and can't find it.
Me too! Meant to do all this in one day and had it layed out perfect. Who knew I needed a perfect 36 mm deep socket to get the bolt off the shaft. Took me a couple weeks to reset on that one and finally found one! Thanks for your help! Got it on perfect.
Hi, we are trying to put the gears back together. At this point I can't remember if the two washers, 1 spacer and one collar went on the outside? Any help is appreciated
They are free if you want them. Shoot me an address and they are in the mail.
On a separate topic. The new wheels have replaceable bearings. There is a circle clip on them. Question before I put the blue locktite on, do the clip face inward toward the track or outward ?
I have a question on idler wheels. I just bought new ones from the dealer and the part number matches. There is a plastic piece in the new ones around the bearing so they won't fit into the lug on the skid. Am I supposed to remove the plastic piece or are these the wrong wheels? The wheel on...
Just checked and the 5 buck model is in Hong Kong. estimated delivery November 27. Tried autozone, sears, tractor supply. No luck.
Good news is the bearing is out. Without this site I would never of known to even check it.
Thanks, there is a lot there in your site. I'm trying to change the lower bearings on both sides of the sled, clutch and chaincase. It seems I need a 37mm wrench to remove the jackshaft however I can't find a wrench that large. Been to 3 stores. Also, even if I get it off where would a buy a...
