Please take some pictures of the brackets in the chassis without the steering booster and also get good hole drilling measurements and/or a drill template. I will have the sled apart this summer to have the driveshaft spray welded for a bearing press fit. Going to make installation puller to...
Anyone with a Sidewinder and a Viper can tell me if the Viper air box is going to be a problem either for the steering unit or the upper steering shaft ? Seriously thinking of putting this on my 7000.
BTW that bracket is called a Torque Sensing Link (TSL) and was invented by Kirk Hibbard around 1995. The pull on the upper part of the track during hard acceleration against the wheel tends to limit the squat of the rear suspension aiding in weight transfer. All manufacturers copied this at...
Well, I am happy to report that the brake rotor is OFF this afternoon. The rotor is destroyed though, mainly from peening with the air hammer and melting with the acetylene torch. I need to source a new one. I used a big 3-jaw puller and heated one place on the rotor hub until it started...
No success. Big three jaw puller putting on lots of force. Heated the hub with the acetylene torch. Hit it with the air hammer just outside the hub all the way around. Even on the side of the hub behind the rotor. If it moved at all, I can't get a feeler gauge between the hub and the...
Trying to get to the lower bearing but the brake rotor hub is seized tight to the splines. Won't move.
Tried prying, penetrating oil, heat. Letting it soak in now.
What have you all done that was successful without destroying everything?
BP
I used the Cat part because I go by the dealer every day. The parts are the same. Mine was around $35 Canadian. $US would be cheaper since our money is worthless.
Yes, I used this hose 2 years ago to replace the old hose a filter assy. There is no filter now. My leak was at one of the filter to hose connections and dripped on the exhaust heat shield. Change it before you become one of those flaming sled videos. The Yamaha part number is on the bag a...
You will need an Arctic Cat 1605-072 Drag Link, 112.6 mm. This is the 2-Stroke unit.
Your sled would have an Arctic Cat 1605-109 Drag Link, 106 mm. This is the 4-stroke unit.
The post mount at the bottom is in slightly different locations requiring different length drag links. I have no...
There are to of these bracket kits. One for 4-stroke and one for 2-stroke. I got the 2-stroke kit not knowing any better. The handle bar is way out of wack. To fix it you need the 2-stroke drag link which is a different length than the 4-stroke.
OR take it all apart and install the proper...
I would re-use the existing jack shaft but I am not sure if there is a snap ring groove since it should have the lock nut. If it has the groove, then he can use the 16mm wide conventional bearing with a 4mm spacer. A 16 or later case will work or a 14-15 case with a 4mm OD spacer.
I have a 15...
Be careful, the jackshaft and bearings are NOT the same as a Viper.
2014 ZR7000 would have the Arctic Cat big fin secondary clutch. The spline is different from Viper.
The bearing behind the secondary is different than a Viper. It is a standard size ID bearing.
The chaincase bearing should be...
I have not done one but, put the shaft in the freezer over night. Put the bearing in the toaster oven at 200 F for half hour. Get both together quickly and the bearing should fall on the shaft. Let it equalize. The bearing will be locked in 2 min. Put the shaft and bearing in the freezer...
Make sure the wife is not around when you use the toaster oven to heat parts. This will save an arguement. My wife has lost so many that I don't get ear ache anymore.
Why don't you put the housing in your toaster oven at 200 deg. F for 20 or 30 min. The bearing should fall right in. Let it cool before doing anything else.
