    Jump starting directly from solenoid

I'm looking at wiring in a lead to the starter side of the solenoid on my RS Venture to make it easier to jump the starter directly. I've been running a lithium battery for a few years now and it starts fine most of the time but when the temps hit -20's below it takes a lot of cranking and I...

07 VK Pro Drive Sprocket Alignment

I just had to move the sprocket next to the chaincase over about a half inch to get the drain bolt out. FYI, it was fairly easy using a 12" plastic chainsaw wedge that I cut a 1 1/2" groove in to span the shaft. Just warm up the sprocket well with a heat gun and drive the wedge along the...

    Cheaper replacement mirrors?

Curious if anyone has found an alternative to the expensive oem 8et-26280,90 mirrors found on early rs vector, venture, rage models? Pretty scarce on ebay but there are lookalikes with the 26280 suffix, but different prefix, for half the price.

    Venture timeline?

The nice thing about the 144" track is that you can eventually replace it with a quiet track, which to my knowledge are not available for the longer TF models yet. I'm currently shopping for my third track for my 05 RS Venture with 27,500 miles. The AC Quiet Track really reduced the lower...

    Start after Storage...

I pop of one of the fuel lines leading to the carbs and pour about a third of a cup of gas in with a small funnel to fill the bowls. pops right off after that. The large vent tubes on these carbs tend to dry out the bowls pretty fast. I necked mine down to 1/8".

    Short-lived Stator

I got 1000 miles out of my RMstator. OEM is much better.

What to do to minimize/eliminate track howl?

The howl was bad on my 05 Venture. I did remove all 6 idlers for a few hundred miles and that definitely eliminated the drone, but not a practical solution for most. I eventually installed an AC Quiet Track which reduced the drone by about 50%. The quiet track also increased the drone frequency...

    RS DRIVE CLUTCH QUESTION

I give my clutch a good cleaning with compressed air once a year. With those many miles, check the surface of the weights for grooving and excess wobble in the rollers. I give my clutch a complete overhaul about every 15000...weights, rollers, bushings, sliders. I know when it's time when I...

    Fuel Gauge not working

My gauge failed on my 06 vector. I was able to fix it by pushing a little washer back on a shaft on the gauge assembly, so the sending unit could make contact again. Fairly simple to pull unit out of tank...I fixed it at a bar on a ride.

how many miles on your yamaha?

23,800 miles on the 05 rs venture. 13,900 on the 06 rage. The only major thing was a stator swap on the venture. Two clutch rebuilds.

Hole in crank case behind primary clutch

my 05 RS Venture and 06 Rage both have the hole. No worries.

    2006 Vector stator problems ?

I like to put a voltmeter on the battery leads from time to time, especially before a big ride, to make sure it's reading around 14.25 volts at idle. Went out on my 05 RS Venture at 15000mi. I trimmed the bulkhead a little for cover clearance. Only a 30 min job now.

Belt Adjusters/Change Tool for Sidewinder, Viper, Apex, Vector, Venture, RX-1, & Nytro

I'm very intrigued by this. Especially since the 3 shim bolts on my venture keep wearing their way into the sheave so you eventually run out of washers to remove and have to get longer bolts. My question is, does the new adjuster allow for the small amount of side play of the secondary on the...

05 venture stator in terrible state.

I changed mine on my 05 Venture last spring. Not a bad job if you're willing to trim a little of the aluminum bulkhead to allow cover removal. I just had to loosen the steering shaft bolts for a little more wiggle room. It worked well to just drill a series if small holes and then snap off the...

Another burnt stator. Stick to OEM

That's a great idea with the voltage meter install! I'll be doing that before next season on both sleds.

Another burnt stator. Stick to OEM

Both times mine went out it seemed to happen rather slowly. Handwarmers weren't getting as hot, hard cranking. From now on I'll be checking my voltage on a regular basis to make sure it's putting out over 14 while running. Problems seem to start once the voltage gets down around 12 when idling.

Another burnt stator. Stick to OEM

My stator fried out on the trapline yesterday in my 05 RS venture. It was an aftermarket(rmstator) with only 1200 miles. I had almost 20,000 on the original stator, and that was before yamaha updated to heavier copper in 2012 I believe. Had .4 ohms on the burnt one, only making 12 volts running...

    exhaust breakage

I just had to weld the exhaust on my 05 venture. It broke right where it goes into the rear exhaust section. I was able to remove it without messing w/ the rear muffler section...just enough clearance. I fitted another piece of pipe inside before welding to beef it up a bit. No doubt metal...

    Mono shock spring identification

Thanks hibshman! I'm probably a few thousandths off with my old calipers, but I'm thinking it must be a 5.0. I'm 200 with gear so I think I will install it and move the ring clip in a couple notches and see if that helps with bottoming. Got it for $40 on ebay so I guess I can't complain. Just...
