Will a 1.5” track fit on a 2011 apex 128” with the tunnel protectors. It looks pretty tight where the tunnel protectors start can they be left in or should I remove them?

Worked on mine as well. No mods. I noticed they were a little black but never heard anything and track looked fine.

I would suggest removing the tunnel protectors. Back in the day I installed a 1.5-in lug track on an Apex and left the tunnel protectors in initially. There was not a whole lot of clearance but it worked. The issue I had is the tunnel protectors especially towards the front of the sled seem to collect a lot of ice build up that would wear down the track lugs prematurely. After I noticed the constant ice build up I pulled the protectors out. Better safe than sorry. Hopefully this will help.
