- 2008 Apex LTX stretched 144
Hi folks I am new to the site and find it very useful for tech tips.
I have a little project on hand right now and looking for some info, 2008 Apex LTX GT, I am extending my track to a 144 and swapping the 136 rails for 144 rails, i would put extensions but my 136 rails are damaged so i've decided to make a set of 144 rails from billet aluminum. I have cnc availability and it would be fun to try.
I am curious if anyone would know the rear axle center to center distance from 136 to a 144 rail. Thanks in advance guys.

I just did the same but used rail extensions. Made them 4 inces long, ie from center of oval to center of oval. If you move your upper idle wheel shaft 4 inches as well, this will keep the original geometry. I didn't move that shaft only because I tried the suspension travel afterward and there was no binding or tightening of the track when suspension was compressed.
good luck with it.
good luck with it.

Thanks fror the reply Yammimodder, moving the upper idler wheel good idea that had completely slipped my mind.

Update on my sled build, I made a set of 144 rails from aluminum flat bar on the cnc, I made them tipped up in the rear like the XTX's, tip up goes back 11 1/2 inches. I added a tunnel extension, side mounts for spare gas containers and a rear rack for additional storage. I got 4000klms on the new set up so far this season and it's running flawless, love the 144 Ice Attack track.
Unfortunately i could not move the upper rear wheel back to maintain the same geometry, the steel bracket for that wheel mount also shared the mounting of the rear swing arm thus changing the geometry. Anyways working real good like this.
A few pics below enjoy.

What would a set of rails cost to have made. Thinking going to 144 on my apex. It has 121 rails now. Maxdlx
