Took secondary off tonight to have a check over and was curious if anyone has change out springs only not with helix or weights and what results they,ve had

yes if you set stock spring tighter you will raise rpm's and willget better backshift, will feel more aggresive corner to corner and down shift faster if your in deep snow. stock should be pink spring @70 degrees which would be set in 6 on helix and 1 on sheave, you would set to 6-2 to get 80 degrees and would tighten spring. white spring would be higher tention spring and would cause same reaction but more aggresive yet, some say this works good with stock wieghts and helix

leave secondary alone and change front spring to the next one softer on preload, gives much smoother engagement on take off but has same rate at full shift,im not studded and run a 13.5 x 128 hacksaw

Will this setting affect top end?

There's a thread on here somewhere about just changing the primary to a Hauck Black spring for better engagement, less squeal, belt dust and grooving with no affect on top end. I picked one up but haven't tried it yet.
