The XTX in my opinion has too much weight on the front, and cranking the front skid shock adjuster up more than half way bothers me. On the girlfriends XTX that we long tracked I drilled different holes to solve this, but on my Viper I put Ice Age rails on it and they have windows where I would need to drill holes. So off I go to try to find another solution.

I start by tracking down the stock spring on the shock on my XTX
1704-236 110pounds

Now I download the chart and look for a spring I guess will work and find it
1704 461 135pounds

EDIT 10/08/2015: I have went with the Zbroz 145 pound spring and it is just right for my light weight It is also longer than stock, as the 2016 spring is said to be. I suggest a 160 pound spring for you guys over 160 pounds body weight.

Where it gets interesting is that a search on Google also shows this 135 pound spring on the 2015 rtx and ltx Vipers. It also shows this spring on the 2014 XF7000 Cat. Yet the 2014 XTX got the 110 pound spring. See info on the bottom of this thread I copied.

So I have ordered this spring and will put it on my Viper and see if it then handles as I expect it too. Evaluation to follow.

Seen these from Top Secret Shop, thought of your front arm adjustments...

I start by tracking down the stock spring on the shock on my XTX
1704-236 110pounds

Now I download the chart and look for a spring I guess will work and find it
1704 461 135pounds

Where it gets interesting is that a search on Google also shows this 135 pound spring on the 2015 rtx and ltx Vipers. It also shows this spring on the 2014 XF7000 Cat. Yet the 2014 XTX got the 110 pound spring.

When I look on Country Cats OEM Parts Fiche I come up with the 1704-236 110 lb spring on all the XF 141 skids, the 1704-461 135 lb spring seems to be used on their 137" skids though.

Have not ridden my XTX yet but would like to get it headed in the right direction before the first trip. These springs are sure cheap enough to give a try! Looking forward to your results.

I think that the Cat spring chart posted some time back by Cannondale showed both torsion and compression springs along with alternate listings.

Tested for half a day stock, had to run adjuster up 2/3 of the way and still not right. Put the 135 spring on and adjusted to 1/3 way up and the sled not only steers like power steering the overall handling is much better in my opinion. A must do for XTX in my mind.

I don't think most trail riders will have much of an issue with the 110 lb spring on the 141's. In fact reducing the preload on it if it's cranked up stock helps anyone trying to ride it aggressively in the corners. That along with the limiters pulled up a bit are almost needed to corner aggressively if that is someone's riding style. Stiffer front spring and additional preload diesnt help it in that regard. Off trail or pounding the bumps is a different story. The downside to the 141 is the skid needs to be setup two different ways for good trail riding vs fun off trail. I've gone to aftermarket shocks now but need to adjust the limiter strap and shocks if I'm doing trail burning vs playing off trail.

Thanks. Mine was sooo hard to steer. When putting more preload on the spring it was like I have no suspension at all. I tied almost every logical set up last year without coming to something acceptable for me. Will have to try the stiffer spring and the adjuster shown Anyway when the C&A XTX skis are on it, its like a train on rails! Great find!

Ummm.....the trail models come with the 135 pound spring as far as I can tell......its the XTX they put the 110 in.

Ummm no kidding. Yes the xtx 141" is what you were discussing and so was I.

Yes you went off on a trail based rant and as you do not list a sled I have to guess, and not sure by your pic we are talking SR Viper. But as you have already changed shocks, springs info on stock should be of little interest.

If you want to take the weight off the front end by adding spring to the front skid shock that is fine for off trail riding etc, but wouldn't this be a better discussion for the SR Viper Mountain section as your sleds are now XTX mountain converts correct?

A crossover falls in between trail and off trail, but with all due respect, what you are proposing will likely make a sled with incredible (if not already too much) weight transfer stock into something that closely resembles a teeter totter when you are off and on the gas.
