Up or down I don’t believe matters much but is a good idea to spray the shock shafts with WD or your choice of lube to prevent any unseen nicks from forming rust. Also not bad idea to cycle them to keep the seals from drying out. Haven’t seen that on most but the Öhlins Mono is notorious for leaking out because of that.
