Anyone riding and if so how bad/good is it? I'm seeing varying reports!!

My reports say conditions are marginal all over the UP. Some rideable snow around Greenland but who wants to go over there for one day ride?

Screw it!! The wife and I are loading up and going to Houghton! Not sure which TYers are going but we are leaving at midnight this Saturday. I will do some reporting while I am up there on the conditions. Gonna be a circus up there but better than letting the sleds collect dust!

My group of 7 will be leaving this Sunday and staying in Baraga at the Casino that night. Monday we are staying at a place close to Krups Conner (by twin lakes) untill Friday. Maybe we will see you up there.

Leaving Wednesday for the Root Cellar.
$ 200.00 deposit refundable only if the trails are "unridable" - and they are the judges.
Even if we've got to trailer to Houghton, it'll be better than going to work!
Please keep the reports coming.

Also - Anyone riding on Gogibic - be careful!
There are reports of two spots of open water and an ice heave just north of Fish Tails (the old Fisheremans Resort).
Check with the locals before heading out!

Monday morning report 1/21/13----Rode out of Houghton yesterday north. Took 3 to Lake Linden--a little rough and a few rocks. Not bad! Took 3 north of there to Phoenix. Terrible!!! Thin and rocky and rough. Met groomer on way back to Lake Linden. No help! As soon the second sled went over the groomed portion, rough again. From Lake Linden back to Houghton, it was awesome!!!!!!!!! Fast and flat. Snowing currently as I type with about 6-7 inches of fresh snow from last night I would guess. Gonna head south today and hopefully rack up some miles. We didn't ride much yesterday due to driving up here. Roads were terrible. What normally takes 8.5 to 9 hours took us 11.5 hours. So us 4 were all tired! Will report back tomorrow!! Up here all week!

Thanks for your reports on the trail conditions IAVECTORGT. I'll be heading up to the Houghton area Jan. 30 and will be keeping a watch for your future reports of the area. Have fun this week!

Tuesday morning report 1/22/13----Very cold up here!!! Didn't ride very far yesterday. The women were getting cold. So a lot of bar seat time!! Anyways, took trail 3 from Houghton to Twin Lakes yesterday and it was freakin' awesome!!! Lots of snow the further south you go. Heard a report that around Mass City/Greenland and Bruce Crossing still thin. I can't verify that. I did hear about the Lake Gogebic issue. From what I heard yesterday, I would stay off of it. There is still quite of a bit of traffic but nothing like it was Sunday! From Twin Lakes took 3 back to Houghton. Honestly, it was getting a little bumpy by late in the afternoon but the apex absorbed them nicely and I was still flying!! From Houghton took 3 to Lake Linden and back. It was awesome! Not sure where we are headed today. It's actually colder today! I will report back tomorrow. I gotta take my wife's ski-doo to the shop right now so we'll be off to a late start! She's pi$$ed. Electrical issues! Hehe! The 2 Vectors with me and my Apex are running strong! Maybe this will convince her to buy a Yamaha finally!!!!! Later everyone!!

Wednesday morning report 1/23/13--About a foot of fresh snow here in Houghton!!! Yesterday took 3 to Lake Linden--freakin' awesome. Took 122 from Lake Linden over to Gay. Trail is snow covered but a little rough. Certainly rideable!! Left the Gay bar and headed up 124 to Phoenix. Oh man, what a trail!!!!!!! Absolutely perfect!!!!! From Phoenix headed south on 3 definitely better than it was on Sunday. More snow on the trail but it was a little rough. Met the Groomer just north of Calumet and from there it was absolutely awesome!!! Trail 17 from Calumet to Houghton was a superhighway!! For those of you on the fence, get your butts up here and ride!! I'm so glad we made the trip! Heading to Copper Harbor and Lac La Belle today. Should be fast and fun! I'll report back tomorrow!! We ride!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
