Adding extra wiring to my rx1 to accommodate the handlebar risers I installed. Is it ok to use stranded 18gauge ?

I recommend using at least the same size as stock wiring. Smaller can cause resistance and problems. Stranded is fine.

I do not know the stock size.

As maim said use the same gauge wire but also use a high grade stranded wire. A "tew" or "sjow" stamped wire would be a good choice for the cold climate and needed flexibility.
