Yamaha to Offer Trail Supercharger Kit for FX Nytro

 Had the sled out for the first time yesterday and this thing pulls hard! Only had one hiccup in the tuning. The sled would go into limp mode when I was blipping the throttle in corners. If your looking at purchasing this kit, your going to have to learn how to tune it and definitely install a AFR guage! BTW, this setup will not do wheelies. It is a trail supercharger for low elevations, in which you are running a low boost pressure. However, this setup will definitely put a perma grin on your face everytime you mash the throttle.

Cool I would like to hear your opinion on the fuel milage when you get a chance. I would assume that it would drop but bdubasov said earlier that it was the same, so just want another perspective.

I will have a better idea on the fuel mileage after a few more trips out. The sled is not broken in yet.only 127 miles on the machine. After i get more miles and dial it in, ill post the fuel mileage.

Fuel mpg is around 10.5. Time for me to invest in a new tank from just tanks. I almost ran out a few times this week riding with the group. Also, i had to disable the tors to get the sled to work right.

nytro charger

i got mine 2 years ago, mpi kit low elevation, mine has a intercooler. it will lift skis at will. i do not have a tunnel cooler but need one, it will run too warm i have to watch it. does any one know what the yamaha kit has for a tunnel cooler? i am running 6-8 lbs boost at 0-700 ft mix premium gas and c12 50/50. i love it!! i am not so fond of the "GEMS" unit though. But I am ready to go to stage 2. once you get one your hooked and want more boost.

I'm sure your sled will lift the ski's to no end extreman, but the kit is desinged to run at low elevations with 91 octane. For those guys who want to run more boost, your best bet would be to run the other kits offered by MPI. I used to run my mountain sled that is supercharged here in MN and I always had to mix 50/50 with 110 octane just to get it to run "almost" right. What a pain that is when your out on trail and you need to fuel up. Thats why the trail kit is designed the way it is, no worries. Just as long as you can find 91 octane.

Finally my 2009 XTX pulls like my old Apex did, and better! I've got over 1,600 miles on it so far since adding the supercharger, all on Tug Hill, and I wouldn't hesitate to do it again! Zero issues after initial setup - seriously, as trailable as stock and she really screams when you want it. Here's a video of me racing my buddy on his 2012 800 E-Tec MXZ-X. Of course, after the 1st pass he was whining that he couldn't hook up even though we were the 1st sleds running on a trail that was groomed the night before! So we ran a second time - you be the judge! The XTX hooks up so well it looks like I'm jumping the start bad, but if you look close you see that I wait 'til he moves before I take off, and then I just run away from him on only 4.5 pounds and pump gas.

Hows your fuel mileage?

I'm getting 13-14 mpg, which is about the same as I was getting before. With the TrailTank I can go as far as anyone else in the group, or farther.

love to charge the mtx ...love to hear feed back on this unit ...

Rode 350 miles over the past couple days, checked the mileage twice with about 125 miles on the sled each time. once was 14.3 mpg, the other 15.0 mpg. Not bad considering.

I took my xtx out to west yellowstone two weeks ago and it was awesome! I switched the lower blower gear to a 28 tooth and it worked great! I was concerned that the fuel mapping in the gems would'nt be right for higher elevations, but it ran sweet. It took a little testing to get the cluthes dialed in. I had to ditch the club weights that was supplied with the kit and go back to stock weights loaded up. I'm leaving the 28 gear on for riding in MN. I havent had any issues with over boosting on pump gas with that setup and you get a lot more bang for your buck. This thing definately pulls way harder and it's worth the cash to get the new gear from MPI.IMOP

Does anybody have any experience to not run on premium fuel? Sometimes when out riding you come to places that dont have premium, can you run on 87(95 in europe) if you ride with your head and dont do long pulls etc.
