I just got a call from my dealer - the sled is in the shop for an oil change and to install a Yamaheater.
He said that there is a service bulletin on batteries within a certain serial number range, and the battery on my 2009 FX Nytro was being replaced at no cost. I haven't had any problems with the battery, but he mentioned something about a "high iron content" whatever that means - I guess it means I get a new battery.
I'm picking the sled up tomorrow. I'll see what i can find out then (exact serial numbers - models, etc).

I'm curious of the serial range as well. I know three guys who bought 09 nytro RTX's this fall. I know my battery didn't make it long and it spewed battery acid all over. It never gelled up so if you shake it it sounded like there was nothing but water in it. ererer not good. If I can prevent my friends from the same experiance, that'd be nice.NY AttakGT said:Interesting......as I have to replace my battery. Any more info or serial # ranges affected?

Nytro takes YTX 20L-BS. Phazer takes YTX 14-BS...different battery.

The Nytro takes a 20L? That's crazy, the Apex only uses a 14, I don't get it.

My Nytro, Vector, YZF 600R, 600 Grizzly and Royal Star Venture all take the YTX-20L-BS battery, are you sure the Apex takes a different battery?

I'm not sure about the battery # but I had mine replaced 2 days after I picked up my sled last year. I still have the original battery I used it in my riding lawnmower and had no issues with it I'm not real sure what the problem was.

The phazer and my apex both have the same battery, i'm pretty sure it was the 14.
Maybe the previous owner changed it?

Nope. Phazer, Attak, Apex, RX-1, and Venture Lite models take the YTX14-BS. Nytro, RS Venture, and RS Vector take the YTX20L-BS.

If the 20 is a bigger battery it's prob because the Nytro has a larger displacement than the Apex with one less cylinder...

Its the sled serial number that determines the battery recall. The dealer did not know the range of serial numbers. He just punches in the serial number of each sled that comes in for service, and yamaha spits out any service issues, bulletins, recalls etc. that are associated with each sled's serial number.
Best to just call your dealer with your serial number. Have him run it through yamaha and see if the battery recall comes up.
