Asphalt Results 2014

Terry you should try running the sled back to back with the Mbrp vs stock to see the gain.

You know me too well Ryan ;)

Just confirmed.....drive axle will be here tomorrow :)

Pulled out the ol reliable SRX and fired it up.....OH MAN!!!!! The smell of VP113 oxygenated fuel with Amsoil Dominator red 2 stroke oil!!! Bringing that to the track since the Viper is still being set up.

Also going to bring my GSXR750 to the track as I always like to have a back up in case something goes wrong with the sled.

4/26/14 Tech and Practice day (Temps were cold, 48° and cloudy most of the day. Sun came out later on)

Didn't have the Viper to run as I am still waiting for my drive axle to show up.....bummer. Front end is all set up and it looks killer with that low stance and asphalt ski set up :)

Brought the SRX and my GSXR750 to the track. Will post the exact times and speeds later as I forgot the timeslips in my truck...DOH!

SRX ran a best of 9.85 at 132mph, but the track was so cold that there wasn't any traction. I usually have 1.3 something 60 foots and my 60's were 1.5 something at best.

Here is a video I found on youtube. The guy must love Mustangs and hate bikes and sleds kicking the crap out of the Mustangs. You can see my SRX towards the end of the video, you can hear it run and take off leaving a newer Mustang that was running 12.60's (had a supercharger on it) in the dust. They never showed the time but I have the timeslip at home.

The very last part of the video shows a Mustang hitting the guardrail in lane 2. He took off in lane one and lane 2 competitor almost took the Mustang out.

Ran the GSXR750 and killed a lowered, streched and modded R1! My bike is stock and ran a 11.21 with a reaction time of .004 to his reaction time of .2 something 11.35 1/4 mile so I was pretty stoked about that :)

Sunday, Opening Day
Raining, windy and cold. They cancelled the races at 8:30am, so I cut wood and did chores around the house

Time slips from Saturday:

WIR Tech and Practice day: Cold, 48 and cloudy

GSXR750 3 runs:
Lane 1 - Reaction time .1122, 2.0468 60ft., 11.4064 1/4 mile at 126.49mph

Lane 1 - Reaction time .0043, 1.9237 60ft., 11.2117 1/4 mile at 126.85mph
(This was against a stretched, lowered and modded R1 who only ran a 11.3269 at 135.28mph. Tree'd him badly! He had a .1644 reaction time)

Lane 1 - Reaction time .0554, 2.1271 60ft., 11.6171 at 126.85mph

SRX time runs
Lane 1 - Reaction time .1442, 1.5599 60ft., 9.8905 1/4 mile at 130.55mph

Lane 1 - Reaction time .2305, 1.5686 60ft., 9.8542 1/4 mile at 132.10mph

Lane 2 - Reaction time .1273, 1.5960 60ft., 9.8998 1/4 mile at 129.48mph
(This was against the Charcoal Mustang in the video above that ran a 12.6111 at 117.02)

Lane 1 - Reaction time .0141, 1.5945 60ft., 9.8840 1/4 mile at 133.21mph

Drive axle showed up yesterday, still waiting for tether setup.

Front end is lowered, 50lbs. in shocks and compressed goes to 125 lbs. so I don't see any bottoming going on.

Definitely looking mean

Saturday May 3rd - 47° with a huge wind of 25+ mph. Track was slippery and only had 1 run that felt like a good 60 ft., but still spinning and no traction.

SRX Lane 1 time run
Reaction time .0916 - 1.5970 60ft. - 10.0194 1/4 mile @ 133.21mph

SRX Lane 2 time run
Reaction time .0031 - 1.4851 60ft. - 9.8440 1/4 mile @ 128.38mph (best ET of the day)

Round 1 (dialed in a 9.85) Lane 1
Reaction time .1556 - 1.5498 60ft. - 9.8655 1/4 mile @ 131.66mph (Lost round one by .o216 because of my reaction time was a little worse than his was)

Round 2 (bought back in and dialed a 9.86) Lane 2
Reaction time .1432 - 1.5460 60ft. - 9.9005 1/4 mile @ 128.06mph (Lost cause I spun so bad again)

Another car trashed as it lost traction half way down the track. A very nice 71/72 Chevelle SS that was just built slammed the guardrail hard on the front end and left side. Worst part to hear was the car was not being driven by it's owner and it was the guys first time down the track....from what I heard. Talk about making someone sick....

Friday Night Real Street Drags May 9th

Knew Pro116 (Ryan) was going to be at the track with his bike so I showed up with my GSXR750 to do some practice runs. Temp was 59° and real windy

Lane 1
Reaction .0675, 1.9458 60ft., 7.4807 1/8th mile, 11.4533 @ 121.42mph 1/4 mile

Lane 2
Reaction .0382, 1.9635 60ft., 7.4156 1/8th mile, 11.3697 @ 122.55mph 1/4 mile

Lane 1 (This was where I saw god at the 1000 ft. mark as the bike spun on oil sprayed on the track by a POS car that shouldn't have even ran down the track. It threw me sideways toward the guardrail where I got traction again. I notified the safety crew and they found out it was transmission fluid) This would have been my fastest time of the day as I had the best 60ft. and 1/8th mile time.
Reaction .0657, 1.8480 60ft., 7.2547 1/8th mile, 12.0850 @ 81.81mph 1/4 mile
(This run would have been in the 10's easily)

Just after the crew cleaned up the mess, a newer camaro was totalled when it slammed the guardrail in lane 1. The track was prepped good enough....so I don't know what happened.

Lane 1
Reaction -.0584, 1.9051 60ft., 7.4426 1/8th mile, 11.3825 @ 123.38mph 1/4 mile

Lane 1
Reaction .0028, 1.8900 60ft., 7.3749 1/8th mile, 11.3026 @ 123.38mph 1/4 mile

Lane 1
Reaction .0597, 1.8893 60ft., 7.3329 1/8th mile, 11.2776 @ 122.05mph 1/4 mile

Lane 1
Reaction .1141, 1.9291 60ft., 7.3689 1/8th mile, 11.2727@ 124.09mph 1/4 mile

Lane 1
Reaction .0114, 1.9456 60ft., 7.4821 1/8th mile, 11.4218 @ 123.38mph 1/4 mile
(This run Ryan gave me 60-90 feet advantage before he took off and still got me at the stripe! His new bike is BAD #*$&@!!!!)

Update...Viper is getting closer to running down the track. Sled is dismantled, new track, driver axle and asphalt suspension going in.

Terry it was fun.I don't have a time slip handy but my best time was 9.78@142mph.
Time to put some gear in the thing so it will 60ft.

Great job Terry, you are close to those 'dial in times'

Hey how is that motorhome working out for you and family?

Yamadoo /Mark

Terry

Well the apex is in the trailer ready for test & tune sat. Sunday is race day. I have a new track to break in. I went from a 121 to 128 so a little testing to get it right. I will let you now how I do.
