OK so when AmSnow or SuperTrax give the Viper the "Sled of the Year" award, who gets the trophy, Yamaha or Cat? Maybe they'll give two trophies! Or maybe it'll be one that's half green/half blue and they have to share custody of it!

Just sayin.

the trophy will have a solid, well sculpted base, with excellect fit and finish, and the top will look like it was put together in grade 8 shop class and will fall apart when you close the door......... but its covered under warranty.

It's a Yamaha sled, so I'm guessing if they were to give it to the Viper, It would be on Yamaha's mantle. That's pretty easy to figure out ain't it? HAHA!

Built in TRF by TRF employees on the TRF assembly line. It's a Cat.

The viper already won sled of the year 2 years ago when cat brought out the new pro-cross sled.

I figure it'll be between the 2 new sleds for 2014, the Yamaha Viper or the Skidoo ACE 900.

Keeping the Apex, but will be keeping an eye on the ACE. I'm predicting that my Cousin will be getting one and I'll be able to formulate an opinion of the sled in a year or two.

There is no way this sled deserves any sled of the year awards. Yamaha has done nothing new at all to advance the sport. They use a 5+ year old engine and borrowed someone else's chassis. Absolutely worthy of nothing other than the "let me try to launch a new sled with as little investment as possible" award.

That is not to say it won't be a great sled. It may very well be. But these awards are usually given to the sled that advances the sport forward.

I tend to disagree in a way though. The idea in itself to combine two well designed items of interest, and possibly hitting a home run, is worth a ton of credit.

Peanut butter has been around for hundreds of years. Chocolate has been around for hundreds of years. At some point, someone put them together and BAM...... Pure deliciousness! LOL

Haha. To each their own I guess. But just to follow your logic here....since we are going back hundreds of years for things that might qualify greatness (like chocolate and peanut butter)....why not combine an early 1990's Arctic Cat Wildcat and a 1995 Indy 600 tripple engine and submit that as innovation!? That's only 20 years old....not 100's of years! Or why not take a Ford Pinto and put a Porsche 911 Turbo engine from the same era in it and call it 2013's car-of-the-year? That's only 40 years old now! Why not???!!!

LOL. Okay, I get your point. I am being a little flippant here to prove a point. And that is the simple fact that NOTHING is new here. And again...it might be a very nice sled. But 10 years from now, sleds WILL be different and progress forward in a positive way....and this will NOT happen by 2 companies coming together with existing technology trying to win the "let me launch a sled with as little investment as possible" award. Actually, I hate to lump Arctic Cat into this equation. They did invest in their new chassis. And this year they came out with a new engine with the 600 cTEC as well. Yamaha has jumped on their back to surive...and Cat let them.

If the YamaCat wins any awards this year...it really deserves to be with Cat.

I think two companies willing to swallow their pride and work together to make a great product is inovation. They are giving a lot of consumers an option they really wanted. I for one would not have been buying a new sled this year or next for that matter if the Viper hadn't been released.

Well...I certainly give you on thing....Yamaha certainly "swallowed" in this situation!
:jump:

Okay, don't ban me over that. It was JUST a joke...and Yamacat21 was guilty for leading me into that one! LOL!
