Where is a good place in the UP for play areas and tree riding. I don't mind trails, but really want to play in the powder. We are also going to be looking to rent a cabin.
A 10-12 hour drive is starting to look better than 28.

There are tons of places. First of all you don't have to go that far. Some of the best areas are just southwest of Hurley, WI. They have designated boondocking areas just south and west of there. Look at a map and Rt 77 on the way to Hurley goes through Upson and Iron Belt heading south on Island Lake rd there is several thousand acres of designated boondocking that is clearly marked as the green areas. Here is the link for that it has all of the designations of open areas on it.

If that is not good enough anything north of Lake gogebic in MI is loaded with logging trails and play areas and national and state forrest areas that you can explore and play in.

WI is fairly flat but up into the UP there are areas with steep and deeps just like out west - kind of!

These pics are in a state park just west of Baraga and north of bruce crossings, also lake of the clouds area has awesome views

I just mapped it from Frewsburg to Munising is under 12 hrs depending on rt. and that is 1/2 way accross you could be in the UP in under 10 hrs

Sent you a PM

Brimley to paradise to Grand Marais. Take a look at this area on the map. These area's have great snow this year. There is a ton of unplowed and ungroomed 2 tracks and fire lanes in this area.

Hey Geezer 2, what town are you from in NW Ohio? Maybe were neighbors? ;)!
