You are exactly right. I have 6.9s on my apex and it won't steer at all in deep powder. You can see the ski pointing up in the powder. Trimming the the rubber to get the ski more level should help for sure. I plan on doing it, just haven't done it yet. I rarely ride powder but would like to...

You need to shim them so they angle up slightly, it will reduce darting as well.

Yeah your mileage is really low for them to fail. I replaced mine at about 4500 miles but they really didn't need it, but since its a lot of work just to check I figured I might as well replace them while I had it torn down.

If I fired up my kerosene torpedo heater in garage for an extended time my Apex would be a bear to start. And when it did start it would run really rough for a minute or so.

I live near Pioneer and have had them revalve my Ohlins mono twice. 2 years ago I asked for a slightly stiffer revalve from stock. It helped the bottoming but i had to ride full compression 90% of the time. This year I asked for it be even stiffer. Even though I only weigh 170(without gear)...

Good info. I've never ran my mine to completely empty but I have put on about 120 miles. The light typically comes on at about 90 miles when riding in groomed trail conditions.

It is on the site somewhere. Check FAQ. The procedure is the same for Apex or RX1. So if you see one for the RX1 its the same.

It must be a leak around the shield. The only time I notice that is when I didnt close the shield properly. It needs a good slam to lock it down and seal properly, you can hear it sort of click when sealed.

I cut old hifax in about 8" strips and laid them in between the ski guides to give the track lugs something to catch.

Good luck. I loved my ZRs. My ZR 900 was an awesome machine. None of Yamaha's handled the trail like it could. I honestly miss it.
