Using my Phazer MTX 2013

On monday I'll leave my sled at the Yamaha store to fix the subframe.

I've made like a steady cam rig to my go pro. To film those low angles.

And today I made a bend to the exhaust. The Yamaha original costs 90 USD here in Sweden. My solution set me back 7 USD instead.

Started of with removing the cover to the muffler.

Then I drilled a hole for the rivet to go in to.

Painted my bend with high temp color coating.

Not the nicest thing to have in the back of the sled, but hopefully it will stop some of the ice build up on the back of the tunnel.

Today I got my sled back from the shop.
They changed the subframe, upper a arm, lower a arm, steering knuckle and I'm also getting a new cover over the headlight. They broke the headlight cover so they ordered a new for me =)

All this cost me 770 USD.

Now the sled is ready for the next season.

I'm getting a new headlight cover next week, so today I decided to do the pod relocation mod. I still have a brand new and untouched cover if I don't like the relocation.

I made it like this (not my picture, but it looks the same).

I also ordered a safety tether to be a bit more safe while out riding.

Pictures will come!

Since the pins holding the headlight cover down is broken, I had to attach the cover in another way. I simply took two M5 bolts stuck them thru the rubber grommets from beneath with two washers and a nut on top of that.

Then I drilled two 5 mm holes thru the cover for the bolts to go thru.

Then a washer and a wing nut to hold it down. Maybe nut the nicest way to hold the cover down. But it's a really steady way to keep the cover in place. Specially when you have added weight to it by attaching the pod on top of the cover.

And the view from driving position.

Maybe I will add a washer or two under the front of the pod to get a better angle from a sitting position.

Hope it will work just fine!

Smart move with the m5 bolts.. will have to do the same, my cover is broken and if I do this I wont need to replace it (dont want to buy a new cover and cut it open for the guage ...)

I think it would hold. So you know that your pod is secured =) It could be a good idea to use a coach bolt instead of an ordinary bolt with two washers. You could also drill a hole thru the bolt and secure the cover with a pin instead of using a wing nut to hold it down.
But this worked for me =)

I did mine like this 3 years ago and have never had an issue. I used nylon snap lock knobs for a cleaner look. They may be hard to see in the pic.

Soon it's winter again! Already had our first icy nights with temperature below 0°C. Woho!
Have done nothing to the snowmobile except putting on a safety tether.
Looking forward to a perfect winter!

Today I made a prototype pod protector.
I'm a bit worried for sticks and other stuff would damage the pod when mounted on top of the light cover, so I made this.

When mounted it will fit really snug to the front of the pod. Now it's just laying there. I have made 4 mounts for rivets to hold it in place.
Made it of some aluminium that I had and will be powder coated black.
Any suggestions on things that would be better for such a protector plate?

soldi: You can see the safety tether of my choice in one of the pictures. And also, are you interested in a subframe reinforcement kit for your Phazer? I have 5 kits left for sale.

Now I have some color on the plate that I made.

And here it is mounted in front of the pod. I mounted it closer than the previous pictures when it was unpainted.

I also started with a prototype of a key protector shield. I bent my key one time last season and I do not want to do that again.
I'm not pleased yet, but it would work.

Left my Betterboards and the front bumper for powder coating today. They will turn black as ordered.

Got my stuff back today.
The front bumper looks nice in black. Thinking of painting the A arms black too. I think that would look nicer.

Also the Betterboards turned black and are now mounted on the sled again. I guess I will remove the two small triangles behind the Betterboards and paint them black too. So the whole foot stands will be black.

Now I want a pair of Dupont slides, because I heard good things about them. I would like to have a Timbersled Barkbuster A arm kit in black. They are quite expensive thou, so maybe powder coating the ones that I have and replace the bushings with the oilites.

Where did get the exhaust turn out from?

Thanks, G.B.
