Mono is an easy install. You can use the Mono mounting brackets as they already line up with a few of the rivet holes and then you can use the bracket as a guide to drill the rest. There was no measuring other than the hole position for the R/A control. Much better ride than Pro Action.
It looks like the skis are different from 03 RX-1 to 06 Apex but if you replace the whole ski assembly is the mount the same? In other words if you take the ski and the saddle off the RX-1 can you install the 06 Apex ski and saddle with no issues?
I have an RX-1 for sale in the classified section that has an Apex seat and beefed up Mono skid along with many more upgrades. Nice thing about the RX-1 is the one piece cowl makes it so easy for maintenance- and cheaper than an Apex too.
My guess would be side heat exchangers (been there) but both sides at once? If it is coming down the tunnel from above the exchangers then I think you have to look at the cooler at the front of the tunnel.
Try pressurizing the fuel tank by blowing air into the vent tube (clutch side) and holding your thumb on it before cranking. If it starts quicker that way then you know that fuel is not getting to the carbs quick enough and you can start eliminating things from there.
Rolling is not good as the oil can get into the cylinders and ruin the motor if it is running. If you tip try and hit the kill switch ASAP and if you have to put it on its side to work on it make sure the oil tank is on the low side (tip to the right).
Edit: There is a valve you can buy to...
I upgraded to the nut when I did mine and it did come loose once so I'm not sure which is the better set up. I think the nut was added in 2005. In the photos I think the collars are reversed, shouldn't the taper go the other way and the nut goes inboard?
I have a complete document of upgrades and changes that I made to the mono when I swapped it that I will e-mail you. Things like beefing up the areas known to crack, putting better grease fittings on, better Hyfax mounting screws, etc. If you get the factory mounting plates for the Mono you...
Ok, maybe this trip will be all business :o|
If I have to drive a few hours I might as well drive home and use the pass that I already paid for. Thanks for the info.
I might be attending a trade show around first week of March in Novi and was thinking about bringing the sled down with me to make it a business / PLEASURE trip. What would it cost for us Canucks to get set up with a weekend (or week) pass and where would be the best places to stay / ride near Novi?
I used to pick up this product every time I went to the U.S. but now I see we have it Home Depots up here in Canada. It's a little pricey (about $10.95) but many people on TY swear by it and say that it is better than Seafoam. They usually keep it near the lawn mowers.
Oh that sucks! I've never heard of anyone having to replace that but I'm sure they are out there, just not many on here in the summer. When looking for parts everyone recommends Travis at Barn of Parts but I'm not sure anyone would sell that bearing alone.
What are you referring to as the 'countershaft'? There is the jackshaft (upper) which your secondary clutch is mounted on, and the driveshaft (lower) which drives the track. The left bearing on the driveshaft usually goes first because it gets a lot of moisture and it is easy to change. The left...
Most people do it at the end of season, the logic being that there are some by products of combustion in the old oil that are acidic and it is better to store it with fresh oil.
Mono is a pretty easy install because the mounting plates line up with some of the existing rivet holes so there is not much measuring required. The swap could be done in a day but there's going to be more work involved rebuilding the mono with new bushings, shock revalve, etc before you put it...
